✈️ What I'll Be Talking About at GDC 2025
Game Developers Conference 2025 is next month!
I'll be there (I think for the 11th time), but this year's different because I'll be giving a talk for the first time.
My talk is called Content-Ready Game Development. It covers developing your game so that it's easy to capture necessary media, like screenshots and video.
This subject is particularly interesting to me because it overlaps 2 of my favorite topics: game development and marketing. I'm excited to explain why screenshots and video are so important, how they can be a pain to capture, and how to ease the process, even making it fun!
Before you ask – I don't think the talk will be live streamed, but the recordings are usually uploaded eventually. I'll let you know when I know.
If you happen to be a the conference, please say hi! I look like this.
Also, my book How to Make a Video Game All By Yourself will be at the GDC Bookstore! As a print-on-demand book, I've never seen it for sale physically, so I'm eager to see a little stack of my books on a table surrounded by shoppers.
Of course, if you buy a copy (or already have one), I'd love to sign it at the conference. Track me down!
📺 Some of My Favorite GDC Talks
I get that not everyone wants to (or can afford to) attend GDC. The good news is that there's a treasure trove of talks online. Here are a few of my favorites:
- The Early Days of id Software by John Romero
- How to Choose a Theme for Your Game by George Fan
- Rogue Legacy Design Postmortem: Budget Development by Cellar Door Games
Lastly, here's my How to do GDC video which hopes to be useful for attendees:
